St. Patrick's Day

Our class celebrated St. Patrick's day fun by following hints that were left the night before by a leprechaun. We found fun signs and tricky messes around our room. We also found his pot of gold. We read several books about St. Patrick and learned that he was a real person. He was not originally from Ireland at all, but actually grew up in Britain. He was stolen, and sold as a slave to a man named Miliucc, and then became a shepherd. After being saved from slavery, Patrick went back to Ireland as a missionary. We used our math skills to find out that St. Patrick was 76 when he died.

Dr. Seuss

Our class celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday with centers using books Dr. Seuss has written. We had a reading center and read many of his books. We made a 'Cat in the Hat' hat to wear for the day. We played a graphing game using the names of several of his books and graphed them as we drew them out of a 'Cat in the Hat' bag. We logged onto an internet site that had games special made for Seusville. We also played a game with dice and striped Cat in the Hat hats. We will continue doing special 'Dr. Suess' activities the rest of March, and will be doing a lot with rhyming words.
