Rudolph Play

Each child memorized parts for our Rudolph play. They performed the play many times Wednesday afternoon. Rudolph's red nose saved Christmas for children everywhere! He was the hero!

Christmas Program

The children looked so beautiful and handsome all dressed up for our Christmas Program. They sang several songs at the Northwestern Auditorium.

Helping others

The first and second graders donated 55 hats, 50 pairs of gloves, 30 scarves, and 8 pairs of socks for our 'Giving Tree'. We feel good knowing we have helped children to be warm this winter.

Finishing Projects

We have been busy finishing the final wrapping of our gifts. We made a red lantern to celebrate Christmas in Japan. We also played a game using a dreidel to learn about Hanukkah. Lot's of work, lots of learning, lots of fun!

Celebrating Santa Lucia's Day for Sweden

We celebrated Santa Lucia's Day... which is celebrated in Sweden on December 12th. We had fun making wreath hats with candles.

Person of the Week - December 8th

Our person of the week lives with her dad, her mom, and her sisters in a red brick house with tan siding. She has two dogs named Cory and Jack Jack. She also has 3 cats named Pedro, Lucy, and Princess. Her favorite color is brown because it is a pretty color. Her favorite subject is math because it is fun. Her favorite TV show is ‘I Carly’, and her favorite book is Curious George. She likes to eat pizza from Mike’s Pizza. She likes to play in the snow. She feels happy when she plays. When she grows up, she would like to be a teacher because she likes to teach. If she could go anywhere in the world, she would go to Florida. She likes it when her Aunt Nette comes over. She feels the best thing about her is that she is helpful at home. She feels she is special because she is nice.

The Mitten Distance Learning

We had a Distance Learning called 'The Mitten'. We connected with a teacher at the Indianapolis Zoo. He read the story 'The Mitten' to us, which is a 'pretend' story by Jan Brett. Then he showed us the real
animals that were in the story, and told us interesting facts about each animal. We took a fieldtrip without having to leave Howard School!

Loving Christmas Tree

The first and second grade children have been collecting hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, and socks to donate to the Kokomo Urban Outreach. It makes us feel good inside to help others keep warm this winter.

Christmas Centers

We were very busy during centers making wrapping paper and special gifts for the people we love. Christmas is a time for giving... and we are putting in lots of time and effort to help bring happiness to others.

Making Special projects

We've been busy in our own private 'Santa's Workshop' that has been held in our classroom. We've been working hard to make 3-dimensional trees to celebrate Christmas in Germany. We learned to play Jarabadach, which is an African Tic-Tac-Toe, to celebrate Christmas in Ghana. We've also been busy making surprises for our parents and special loved ones.

Clay dough ornaments

We read and followed the recipe to make clay dough ornaments. We each got to make three ornaments. We will let them dry and then paint them for Christmas. Fun, fun, fun!!!
