100th Day of School!

We read lots of books about numbers, made necklaces with 100 pieces of ditalini noodles... marking the 5's with a blue noodle and the 10's with a red noodle. We found lots of 100's hidden around the room. Look carefully at this picture and you may find some too! We enjoyed celebrating the 100th day of school. Fun times for all.

Centers celebrating the 100th day of school!

We celebrated the 100th day of school with centers having to do with numbers. We continued writing to 1000, cut out 100 hands to thank the clowns, picked 10 pieces from 10 different snacks. worked with number charts, and cut 100 words we could read from the newspaper and put together several 100 piece puzzles. Now we only have 80 more days left of school!

100 Cans for 100's Day

The kindergarten, first and second grades tried to collect 100 cans to give to the Kokomo Rescue Mission to celebrate the 100th day of school. The children actually brought in 258 cans! That is more than we collected last year. The cans were lined up in the 2nd grade hallway, and filled almost the whole length of the wall. We marked the wall at every 5th can and 10th can in order to count by 5's as the line continued to grow longer. They were very pleased to be able to help those less fortunate in such a fun way.

Distance learning on Polar Bears

The first grade classes participated in a Distance learning about Polar Bears from the Indianapolis Zoo. The presenter there told us many facts about Polar Bears. We also got to see live Polar Bears swimming at the zoo. Our class lined up in front of a Polar Bear made out of paper that is on a wall in the Distance Learning Lab.

Celebrating with clowns for 100's day

The kindergarten, first and second grade children were entertained by clowns from the group 'Miles of Smiles'. The children were celebrating the 100th day of school which was supposed to have been Friday. There were many smiles on the children's faces as they watched the show.

Our Person of the Week

Our special person of the week lives with his mom, his dad, and his brother in a stone house with tan on it. He has a dog named Dee Dee and he has 4 fish. His favorite color is green because it makes him feel happy. His favorite subject is gym because he gets to play fun games. His favorite TV show is ‘Sponge Bob’ and his favorite book is Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. He likes to eat hotdogs. He likes to play Star Wars Monopoly. He feels happy when he is in quiet time because he can look at books. When he grows up he wants to be a wrestler because he saw it once on TV at someone’s house and it looked fun. If he could go anywhere in the world, he would go to King’s Island. He would like you to know he is strong. He likes Indiana Jones, basketball, baseball and football. He feels the best thing about him is that he is good with video games. He feels he is special because God loves him.

Gingerbread Puppets

After working with centers all afternoon, our Gingerbread Boy puppets turned out really nice. We dressed them in fun clothing. We think they look cute.

Gingerbread Learning Centers

We participated in learning centers all about gingerbread. We read several Gingerbread boy stories, took a bite out of a gingerbread boy and graphed where we bit him. (Most of us bit his head off first! Ouch!) We followed directions to decorate a gingerbread boy on paper... and worked with a Gingerbread Boy story on our computer. We also decorated our gingerbread puppet we made at our Distance Learning fieldtrip earlier today. We were very busy all afternoon. Fun, fun, fun!

Distance Learning - The Gingerbread Boy

We had a Distance Learning with the Puppetry Center in Atlanta, Georgia. The teacher there demonstrated various kinds of puppets. She told us about many different versions of the Gingerbread Boy story. We got to see what sugar cane, ginger root, cinnamon, and wheat look like. (Those are the ingredients in gingerbread.) Next, we followed her directions and made our own puppets. What a wonderful field trip!
