Pie Throw for Leukemia and Lymphoma

Our school raised over $1000 to donate to the LLS foundation to help those with Leukemia and Lymphoma. Each class earned a pie for each $20 the class raised. Our class raised enough for 6 pies! Mrs. Stites drew names out of a hat to decide which six children got to represent our classroom and throw the pies into the face of our student council member. Captain Harold Vincent made a special deal with the DARE students and took 3 pies in the face. All the children enjoyed the festivities. It was a fun way to raise money to help those who are suffering.

Distance Learning About Dinosaurs

We participated in a Distance Learning from the Puppetry Center in Atlanta, Georgia. We made a dinosaur hand puppet, after reviewing what we had learned previously about dinosaurs. We reviewed that some dinosaurs are carnivores, some are herbivores. Dinosaur teeth are different according to what they eat. Paleontologists named many dinosaurs for a special characteristic they possess. Most plant eaters walk on all four feet, meat eaters usually walked on two feet. The Distance Learning was fun and informative. We enjoyed making our hand puppets. This was a fun fieldtrip!

Valentine Fun!

We had a fun time celebrating Valentine's day. First we opened all of our Valentines and found out we had many sweethearts. Our room mothers brought in materials for 3 activity centers. We decorated our own Valentine cupcakes, played Valentine Bingo, and decorated treat bags which we then filled with the special treats various parents had sent in. There was lots of love all around.

We learned about groundhogs and hibernation as we celebrated on February 2nd. We decided the groundhog would probably see his shadow because it was sunny out. That means 6 more weeks of winter! Brrrr!
