Dr. Finkler shows dinosaur bones

Anna's father Dr. Finkler brought his dinosaur specimens from IUK to share with the first grade children.  He brought a footprint, some skulls, a replica of an egg, along with other dinosaur parts... including some dinosaur poo!  The children enjoyed his visit.  He was very interesting and we learned more about the different kinds of dinosaurs!

Valentine's Day party

Our class celebrated Valentine's day with a Valentine's party.  We made clown sacks and put our names on their hats.  Next, we put them in alphabetical order along the chalk board.  Then we brought in Valentine's and mailed them.  This was good practice for writing our friends' names and then reading the names we wrote.  We found out we all have a bunch of people who care about us.  What a day filled with love!

Special Person of the Week

Our special person of the week lives in a yellow trailer house with pink flowers with his dad, his mom and his sister.  He has 3 dogs named Miles, Dutch, and Pepper.  His favorite color is red because Christmas is his favorite holiday and Santa’s suit is red.  His favorite subject is Reading because it makes you smarter and you can know all the words.  His favorite TV show is’ Garfield and Friends’, and his favorite book is the Bible.  He likes to eat pizza and chocolate chip cookies.  He likes to watch movies.  He feels happy when he gets to spend the night at a friends’ house.  When he grows up, He wants to be a policeman because he wants to catch the bad people for our country.  If he could go anywhere in the world, he would go to Florida because his sister is there and he misses her so much.  He likes to play football.  He feels he is special because he loves God.  He feels the best thing about him is that he is funny.

Learning about Teeth

Our school nurse coordinated with a local dentist's office to teach the first grades how to properly brush their teeth.  They gave us lots of hints about how to choose foods that are good for our teeth.  Each first grader went home with a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and other goodies.

Celebrating Groundhog Day

Happy Grounghog day!  The groundhog saw his shadow, so there will be 6 more weeks of winter!
