Our special student of the week lives in a house that is creamy with bricks with his Daddy, his mommy and his sister.  He has a puppy named Puppy, and cats named Jake, Juliette and Logan.  He also has a bearded dragon named Leo and a fish named Fishy.  His favorite color is blue because it is a cool boy color.  His favorite subject is Gym because he likes to run laps.  His favorite TV show is ‘Goosebumps’, and his favorite book is Goosebumps.  He likes to eat Chicken and dumplings.  He likes to hang out with his family and friends.  He feels happy when he gets to go to Chuckie Cheese.  When he grows up he wants to be a policeman because he wants to arrest bad guys.  If he could go anywhere in the world, he would go to Disneyland.  He feels he is special because he is kind to others.  He feels the best thing about him is he is funny and he likes to make people laugh.  He wants you to know he feels he is a good brother and he likes to draw.

The first grade children visited Conner Prairie.  They participated in a program designed specifically for first grade.  Then they spent the rest of the afternoon going on the regular tour of Conner Prairie.  They learned a lot about Pioneer ways.

Our special person of the week lives in a house that looks like a mansion with his mom.  He has 3 sisters.  One is 20, one is18, and one is13.  He has one brother who is 16. He has a dog named Bo and two fish named LeBron and DWade.  His favorite color is green.  His favorite subject is Math because it helps him to be smarter.  His favorite TV show is ‘Gravity Falls’ and his favorite book is I Stink!  He likes to eat Ramon noodles.  He likes to play football.  He also plays soccer, basketball and baseball.  He feels happy when he has a game.  When he grows up he wants to be a Football player because he thinks it is cool.  If he could go anywhere in the world, he would go to Florida.  He feels he is special because he is an only black child.  He feels the best thing about him is that he is nice.

Our Superintendent Comes to First Grade

Our Superintendent Ryan Snoddy visited our first grade classroom and read the book he loved to read to his children when they were young.  It was a Berenstain Bears book.  We enjoyed listening to Mr. Snoddy Read.  We were glad he visited our room.

Indiana Wesleyan Student Helper- Miss Peach

Miss Amelia Peach is a student at Indiana Wesleyan University. She is helping in our classroom on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  She is participating in our room as part of her course study at the University.  We enjoy having her in our classroom.

We put half of our apple into the 'plain' crock pot, and the other half in the 'cinnamon' crock pot.

We made applesauce by peeling, coring and chopping up our apples into equal halves.  When we cored the apple we ended up with 8 pieces.  We had to divide those pieces equally into the two crock pots. Later we ate our two kinds of applesauce and tallied who like the plain the best and who liked the cinnamon the best.  (The plain won!!!)  We found out we are really good cooks!  Yummy!

Each child brought in an apple to be used for apple activities.  We brainstormed ways we could sort the apples.  Later we used the apples to make applesauce and apple prints.
